photo one
This photo was taken for the pattern and texture assignment.
What I like about this photo is the repetitiveness of the photo and how the image is slightly blurry. Each row of chairs create leading lines through out the photo. The depth of field is shallow since the chairs in the background are blurry than the ones in the foreground. The ISO was set to 800 and the White Balance was set on fluorescent. |
photo two
I selected this photo because I like how the pen in the foreground is in sharp focus and the ones in the background are blurry. Compositionally, there is a sense of depth because the red pen is in focus and the other pens are blurred. The point of view is right next to the pens and straight on. The ISO was set at 800 and the WB was on incandescent lighting. To take this photo I had the camera set f/4 to create a shallow depth of field.

photo three
This photo was taken for the line and shape assignment.
What I like about this photo is the repeating "+" sign shape. My point of view was straight on looking into the candleholder. I was able to create a shallow depth of field with my iPhone camera by tapping the screen to focus on the inside of the candleholder. The ISO and White Balance were automatically set since I used my phone to take this picture. I changed the photo to black and white in Photoshop and then corrected the levels to get a range of black and white values. |
photo four
I took this photo for the studio portraits assignments. I like this photo because it has the correct levels, it has the correct exposure, and the sense of mystery that the photo creates. The ISO was set to 1600 and the white balance was set to incandescent lighting. I used the silver umbrella to take this picture to soften the light and to prevent harsh shadows.

photo five
I took this photo for the motion assignment. I decided to pick this photo because I like how there's motion in the picture. The shutter speed was about 1/15 of a second, the ISO was set at 800 and the white balance was set on fluorescent. I was a few feet away from the subject, and my point of view was straight on. I tried to line up the subject with the vertical line of the rule of thirds, and there also is a range of black to white with some greys.

photo six
I took this photo for the painting with light assignment. The shutter speed was set at about 4 or 6 seconds; this slow shutter speed allowed me to capture the infinity shape made by the light. I like how the lines repeat and how there is an interesting cross-hatching pattern in the middle. There is also looks of negative space in the photo and the fades on the left side of the photo are fascinating.
